Batman V Superman Opens With an $82 Million Friday in the U.S.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice earned just a hair over $82 million in its opening day screenings on Friday.
That includes a chunk from Thursday's pre-screenings, but doesn't do much to take away from how big the opening weekend will be; the film is now on track for over $170 million in its opening weekend, the biggest opening weekend ever for a DC movie and fourth biggest comic book opening of all time behind the two Avengers movies and Iron Man 3.
Barring a massive drop today, Batman V Superman should easily exceed the $152 million earned by The Hunger Games to take the top March opening and the top pre-summer opening of all time.

Batman V Superman earned $27 million from early screenings, which bests the $21 million (officially $9 million, but with an additional $12 from special screenings Wal-Mart set up) from Man of Steel, which went on to make nearly $120 million in its opening weekend.
The film is opening at #1 in every market where it's in theaters around the world, and estimates had previously speculated that it could make as much as $300-350 million this weekend globally. Poor reviews and a B CinemaScore likely forecast a significant week-to-week drop, but $800 has been rumored as the magic number where the film, worldwide, is considered a hit by Warner Bros. -- and a $350 million opening frame seems to make that number easily within reach.
More on the official numbers as they roll in throughout the weekend.
